Garritan successfully introduced us to a cheap but great sounding library, for those who wish to try out composing orchestral music.

My personal sales engineer, Jared Kalish, helped me choose the best product for me and my budget, and replied to all my emails faster than I could ever ask! He covered all my question about many product details! Amazing experience as always! ARIA player (that comes with GPO 5) is considered the most effective and user-friendly player of its kind! So if your budget is less than $150, then this is your best option, you can't go wrong with that one! So far I am really enjoying the interface and the sound quality of GPO 5! The sounds of the instruments are very good (realistic) for that price range, and they come naturally dry, which is perfect for me! It's very easy (no more than a few clicks) to add reverb, articulations, effects, etc.

Complete means that, unlike most other orchestral libraries (including more expensive ones), GPO 5 offers many "extra" instruments, including a harpsichord, several pianos and harps, plus many pipe organs and choirs! All in one complete package! Value for money - wise, it cannot get any better than that! GPO 5 is a complete orchestral library about 12 GB in size. To that end, I wish Garritan had some nice training courses, aimed at helping users not only when using their app but when creating beautifully sampled performances in general. Performing with the sample libraries and getting them to sound good is a skill - just like writing good harmony and good orchestration. If you are an advanced composer with a large stable of samples, I'm not qualified to comment.įor new guys like me: Keep in mind that as with all these libraries, making your song sound like the demos is difficult. If you, like me, are new to sampling libraries this is the way to go. It is well documented and really gets in the way of creation. Playback quality: East West libraries - especially the horns - have goofy playback issues.
General tone: Garritan is at least as good - but for much less money.ģ. Might have been cool five years ago, but now it is just essential.Ģ. Found this was far superior in a number of areas:Ģ. I tried this and several of the libraries from East West. He's a good example of why Sweetwater has the best customer service of any company or service I've ever dealt with (I kid you not!). I had no troubles installing the software and, once it was fully loaded, I was up and running in about 15 minutes. The sounds of the instruments are excellent quality and there are enough "inner" controls to help shape the sounds into effectively realistic ones. But then I found out about the Garritan Personal Orchestra and found it to contain exactly what I was looking for and for a price I could afford. I'd been looking at sound libraries for some time (particularly of orchestral instruments) and was rather discouraged by prices that were often several thousand dollars.
